Parachute Postcards launched in July, 2018. They are emailed seasonally to our mailing list. Tens of thousands of postcards were mailed from Coney Island daily at the turn of the last century. Parachute Literary Arts felt inspired to riff on that long tradition by inviting Coney Island writers and photographers to collaborate on virtual "postcards". Parachute Postcards focuses our attention on Coney Island's residential neighborhood and natural areas more than the amusement area. We want to send you postcards that reflect a multifaceted view from Coney Island. Parachute Postcards are created by pairing a local writer and photographer to capture what resonates with them in Coney Island.
