Rachel Morrison, Chair
Rachel Elizabeth Morrison is a writer, advocate, entrepreneur and a lifelong resident of Coney Island. She became involved with Parachute Literary Arts in 2020 for its first writing workshop held virtually due to the pandemic. Over the course of the program and in the years that followed, she was published in the Chapbook “My New York City” and has contributed her time and ideas to the organization. As Board Chair, she hopes to continue this trajectory through collaboration and spreading the knowledge and art of writing to her community and beyond.
Sarah Nicholls, Treasurer
Sarah Nicholls is an artist, printmaker, and writer whose work combines language, image, visual narrative, and time. Her ongoing projects on climate change, urban ecology, and the history of science and technology include a series of letterpress pamphlets as well as participatory programs like guided urban/nature walks. Nicholls teaches letterpress and book arts at Pratt Institute and Parsons School of Design in New York City as well as the University of the Arts in Philadelphia.
Jim Hart
Jim is the author of the best-selling memoir: Lucky Jim. He is the former Publisher and CEO of the award-winning literary magazine “DoubleTake.” Jim has written lyrics for multiple Grammy Winning artists. Jim’s interests and talents have placed him on many boards and committees including, The World Bank, the Association to Benefit Children, The Tranquility Project (Land Mine Victims in Southeast Asia), The Lesbian, Gay, Transgender Community Center, The National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Addiction, and the Chair of the Greenwich Village-Chelsea Chamber of Commerce. He actually rode the Parachute Jump as a young boy, so Parachute Literary Arts feels essential to him. Jim is also a Coney Island Polar Bear and loves the warmth of reading a poem after a very cold swim.
